Care & use

A fountain pen lasts longer when treated as a tool, not as jewellery that never leaves the box. A few habits keep the nib and feed working cleanly.

Ink

Use standard fountain-pen ink from a reputable maker. Avoid India ink, calligraphy inks labelled for dip pens only, and anything described as permanent or pigment-heavy unless the maker states it is fountain-pen safe.

Cleaning

• Flush the nib and feed with lukewarm water when changing colours.
• If the pen will sit unused for weeks, empty and rinse it first.
• Do not force the nib or twist the tipping against a hard surface.

On the desk

Store the pen capped when not in use. Carry it nib-up if you travel with it full of ink. A soft cloth is enough to remove fingerprints from the barrel.

Paper

Most notebooks work. Heavier, less absorbent paper shows the line more cleanly and reduces feathering. That is a preference, not a requirement.
